On September 22, Browary Warszawskie will host the final of the 6th International Poster Contest We Want Jazz: KOMEDA55. After the award ceremony, the opening of the exhibition of the best works and the concert of the EABS group dedicated to Krzysztof Komeda will begin. Admission to the event is free.
The EABS concert ,,Repetitions (Letters to Krzysztof Komeda)", scheduled for 18:00, in the Central Garden of Browary Warszawskie, will conclude the sixth edition of the International We Want Jazz Poster Competition called KOMEDA55, organized by the EuroJAZZ Foundation, which promotes this musical genre. – This year, more than nine hundred posters by seven hundred artists from eighty countries were submitted to the contest. Among the thirty works that the jury, led by Professor Lech Majewski, qualified for the final exhibition, are posters by artists. For example: from Russia, USA, Japan, China, and Argentina. We are very happy that the competition organized by us is developing so wonderfully and popularizes not only world jazz music, but also Polish artists. The main character of this publication is the pianist and film composer Krzysztof Komeda, whose 55th death anniversary was celebrated this year – says Agnieszka Holwek, Vice-President of the EuroJAZZ Foundation and member of the competition jury.

Poles are in the first winning three. The best works were prepared by Jerzy Skakun, Sebastian Bauman and Katarzyna Czapska. The award ceremony and the opening of an exhibition of the final works of the competition will take place at 17:30. – Browary Warszawskie have supported various cultural initiatives since the beginning of the uprising. Twice a year we organize a "jazz festival" here, as well as concerts and music workshops "Jazz for Children", so the exhibition of competitive posters on jazz themes could not be held in another place. The artists' works can be viewed at installations along the Wunerf Haberbusch and Schiele throughout the month. The concert of the EABS jazz formation, which we invite fans of the genre and beyond, will definitely not be the last meeting with jazz this year - says Milena Nawrat, Marketing Manager of Echo Investment, member of the jury of this year's "We Want Jazz" contest.
The EABS concert repertoire, like the theme of this year's competition, is dedicated to the work of Polish jazz legend Krzysztof Komeda. The band consisting of Marek Pędziwiatr - keyboards, Paweł Stachowiak - bass guitar, Jakub Kurek - trumpet, Olaf Węgier - tenor saxophone, Marcin Rak - drums will perform songs from their debut CD ,,Repetitions (letters to Krzysztof Komeda)", which received very high ratings among jazz critics and also hit the top of the list. In addition, he will present excerpts from the material prepared under the working title: "Repetitions II (Sketches of Krzysztof Komeda)”. It is based on Krzysztof Balkiewiczek's very early and never recorded school period comedy scores.
By combining various musical influences, EABS has grown into one of the most important jazz bands that has transcended the barriers of genres to perform for examples at festivals: Jazz Jamboree, Woodstock, Open'er and participated also in the Męskie Granie tour.
The event will take place in the Central Garden of Warsaw Breweries, at 58 Grzybowska Street. Admission is free.
